Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Deb Haaland as the first Native American cabinet member in US history. The former New Mexico representative is a member of the New Mexico Laguna Pueblo tribe. This is a radical change for the Interior Department, which used to lead efforts in controlling American indigenous people.

5 Stocks to Watch Out For Tuesday, March 16 

GenMark Diagnostics, Inc ▲(GNMK 23.98 USD +5.48 (29.62%)) shares zoomed up almost 30% during last Monday’s trading. Pharma giant Roche confirmed earlier buzz that they were buying GenMark in an all-cash deal worth $1.8 billion. 

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc ▲(AMC 14.04 USD +2.90 (26.03%)) stocks surged during yesterday’s trading as Los Angeles joins the growing list of cities reopening their movie theaters. AMC reopened two locations in LA Monday and will reopen the remaining 23 by Friday. 

NXP Semiconductors NV ▲(NXP 199.91 USD +16.44 (8.96%)) and Penn National Gaming, Inc ▲(PENN 136.47 USD +6.00 (4.60%)) shares gained after S&P Dow Jones Indices announced the two companies as the newest additions to the S&P 500 last Friday. The move boosted the shares of Penn National Gaming and NXP Semiconductors, whose stocks rose 9% and 4.6% Monday. In addition, Generac Holdings and Caesars Entertainment will also join the S&P 500 index. Meanwhile, SL Green Realty Corp, Xerox Holdings Corp, Flowserve Corp, and Vontier Corp will move to the S&P MidCap 400. 

Gap Inc ▲(GPS 32.25 USD +1.44 (4.67%)) shares gained near 5% yesterday after Wells Fargo went for potential and raised its stock target price for the retailer to $40. This is around 30% above Gap’s Friday closing price. Analysts see Gap take off this year as the economic recovery continues.  They see potential gains for both Athleta and Gap brands.
