Amazon Launches New Amazon Vehicles Page

Published

on

Amazon is paving the way for a big future play with Amazon Vehicles. While the new page does not allow users to directly purchase a vehicle through Amazon.com, the new page lets a user learn everything there is to know about a vehicle.

Amazon Vehicles Page Is Now On Board

Amazon’s New Site Feature, Amazon Vehicles, Allows Users To Learn Anything And Everything About Cars.

Users can browse thousands of different car models, and can view specs and read customer reviews. Site visitors can even look up the car's strengths, value, and how each model of vehicle changes year to year.

Amazon Vehicles features thousands of cars, ranging from a 2014 Tesla Model S to a 1965 Ford Mustang. The huge vehicle database features a toolbar that lets you sort by model, make, and year, or something more general like the body style or seating capacity. The page also shows trucks and motorcycles,.and lets visitors buy auto parts and accessories. Users can buy anything from , new brake kits to smartphone adapters. Customers can even submit car reviews and upload images and video. They can also ask car owners questions about their cars, making the site a forum, as well.

So what does all this say for the future of the website? Is Amazon planning an online marketplace for cars?

A spokesperson told Business Insider “I can't speculate on what Amazon would or wouldn't do in the future” when asked whether Amazon might sell cars through Amazon Vehicles in the future.

From where I sit, Amazon is making a bigtime long-term play. This is Amazon’s foot in the door to the world of car sales. Last year, in the US alone, car sales set a new record of $570 Billion. Amazon is getting users in the habit of thinking about Amazon first when learning about a car. The next logical step is to click the “Add to Cart” button.

I know I’ll be adding Amazon (AMZN) to my cart for the long haul.
