A group of GOP senators demands to vote on defunding President Joe Biden’s COVID mandates. These cover executive orders for healthcare workers, federal employees and contractors, and the military. Otherwise, they will refuse approval for the next continuing resolution to fund the government.

GOP Senators Want To Defund COVID Mandates
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) leads the group of Republican senators who threaten to withhold the next continuing resolution. They will withhold their support until the Senate votes on an amendment that defunds Biden’s COVID mandates. The current continuing resolution will expire on February 18. The GOP senators issued a letter to fellow lawmakers. “As you are likely aware, the OSHA mandate was rescinded shortly after the Supreme Court blocked its enforcement. This is no small victory. Millions of Americans are now free from this unwarranted federal invasion into healthcare decisions, but for how long?”
No Vote on Defunding, No Continuing Resolution
The senators added that in addition to the harmful uncertainty facing targets of the COVID mandates, Americans also face uncertainty. They have no idea if President Biden abandoned his need to impose similar requirements on ordinary Americans. As a result, the group led by Lee said that they will withhold support for the passage of a continuing resolution. Unless the Senate agrees to vote for an amendment defunding Biden’s COVID mandates, they will hold off on the CR. “We will continue to stand against these mandates until they are discontinued in ambition, design, and practice.” they wrote. Joining Senator Lee are Roger Marshall (KS), Cynthia Lummis (WY), Mike Braun (IN), Rand Paul (KY), and Ted Cuz (TX).
Serious Abuse of Federal Power
The letter also alluded to COVID mandates as a serious abuse of federal power and executive authority. These also cause further strain to the economy as it continues to ignore existing evidence-based data on natural COVID immunity. It points out that evidence-based research showed that vaccines do not prevent the spread of the virus. Regardless, “President Biden has no business forcing people to make a tragic choice between unemployment and an unwanted vaccination.” The letter ends with a plea for Senators to join them in their petition for a vote defunding Biden’s COVID mandates. It asks them to “oppose the CR until it explicitly defunds the implementation and enforcement of these mandates. At a minimum, we need to take a vote on this before funding their enforcement. The livelihoods and personal freedoms of millions of Americans are at stake.”Watch the CNBC Television news video reporting that the Senate GOP threatens to shut down the government over vaccine mandates:
Do you support the Senate movement to withhold support for the continuing resolution unless they defund Biden’s COVID mandates? Also, do you think other Republicans (and even some Democrats) will join Sen. Lee’s group?
