People love to travel, but traveling world wide and even across the United States is expensive. So what is someone to do who may not have a ton of cash or who wants to save money? With a little ingenuity, you can travel for free or even get paid to travel. Some people may have a difficult time without a safety net, but for others, this is the adventure they have always dreamed of doing.

One of the secret for traveling for free or being paid to travel is to travel light. Do not check a bag and travel with clothes that are versatile and able to be washed and dried quickly. Pack 2 pairs of shoes, max and one dress up outfit. Get a bag that is durable and can handle you moving around, packing, and unpacking a lot.

1. Couch Surf

Meet new people and stay at a local’s home through the website Couchsurfing. All around the world fellow travelers open up their homes and offer for you to sleep on their couch for free. There are also Couchsurfing events around the world where you can meet hosts in person.

2. Work as an Au Pair

If you love Children, you can work as a nanny or an au pair overseas. People hire others to travel with their families all the time in order to help with the children. Do not expect to go off on your own a lot if you’ve been hired as a travel nanny. You are there to watch the children. That will be your job. Now if the job is local as an au pair, you will have time off for sight seeing on your own. This job will give you room, board, and spending money. 3. Volunteer on a Farm

If you travel somewhere to work on a farm, you will do pretty hard work. However, people who do this, love it! Live and work on farms around the world through WWOOF, which links farmers and growers with volunteers who are eager to work on their farm for free room and board.
